Photographers Dial In
Another year at KD DRAGWAY has come and gone.
I would like to take this time to give a special thanks to Sue and Darrell Leadingham for giving me the opportunity and privilidge to take photos at KD DRAGWAY.
It was another year of getting to take some exciting photographs and making a bunch of new friends and getting time to spend with many of the old friends that I've made at KD over the past eight or nine years. Time seems to fly when you are doing something that you can really enjoy and when you are around a bunch of really great people.
I would like to also give a special thanks to all of you who went home with one and many of you several of my photos over the " 09 " Season at KD DRAGWAY.
AND REMEMBER >>> You all are always invited to stop in and take a look at our " Wall of Fame " on display inside the Photo trailer. You'll see samples of the different ways to design your photographs as well as photos of some of the areas best looking and quickest Hot Rods....
You'll see photos of " Charlie Knisley's " Wheelstanding - Gear Jamming Hot Rods, " Mike Hoppers " ( owner of Hopper Racing who recently appeared and competed on " Pinks All Out " ) Camaro, " The Shifnoid Rail " - a nastalgic Rail from out of the past and National record holder - owned and driven by Pat Mcfadden as well as many others you may recognize from around the Tri - State area. And then ... there's another record holder that has been seen competeing at KD and on the Wall of Fame - " Jimmy Fullers Machines - His big Max Wedge Mopar the " Tat'R Wedge " a 10/5 Class record holder and his big " Big White 1960 Chevy " and more !
So when ever you see the old Photo Trailer
OR " THE NEW ONE ", stop in and say hello !
Take a look at our pages from the past !
You just might see someone you recognize !

Charlies Turbo Powered Wagon
Here's another one of " Charlie and Judy Knisleys " toys that competed at KD in the 09 season, this 1978 Ford Rairmont Turbo Powered Wagon .
It's not very often that you see a good looking Wagon running at a drag strip let alone one that is Turbo Powered !
With a 5.0 small block spiced up with a 67mm Turbo and Fuel Injection it is no wonder that it cruises down the track in the mid 6's at around 106 MPH.....
You never know what Charlie is going to show up at the track with. The only thing you can be sure of is, that what ever comes out of his trailer will be fast and good looking !
No photo lay out of KD 's Hot Rods would be complete without " Mike Sparks " and his Hot Rod Mustang.
A.K.A. - SPARKY, has always been seen running a good looking and quick running Hot Rod. Some of you may even remember the blue Chevy Nova of years past that Sparky owned. For a long time , it was one of my favorite Hot Rods that raced at KD....
Sparky's - Mustang, sometimes called his Hyberd Hot Rod, because of it having a " Chevy " Small Block in it has been in KD's list of Winners on many an occassion.
Getten a little air , and getten down the track has always been Sparky's mode of opperation !
In the 09 Racing Season we got to see our good friend " Mike Hopper " owner of Hopper Racing compete on the popular show " Pinks All Out " at the 4 - Wide Z Max Dragway in Charlotte North Carolina.
" Pat Mcfadden " and his nastalgic " Shifnoid Rail " have been making it down the track as well as in to the Winners Circle on several occassions at KD in the 09 Season !
Something that many of you may or may not know is >> " The Shifnoid Rail " owned and driven by Pat Mcfadden, in it's earlier days ( the Dragster that is ) was an N.H.R.A. - National Record Holder.
Since purchassed by Pat, he has maintained the integrity of the original design including frame and body of this fantastic Old School - Front Engine Dragster.
" Fast Eddie " Leadingham is one of KD's toughest competitors.
Being brought up around Drag Racing and a 20 year veteran of Drag Racing himself, Eddie has learned the in's and out's of Drag Racing and applied them making him a tough customer to compete with when pulling out on to the starting line.
His 1967 Camaro took home Bracket Ones First Place in 09's " King of The Hill Race ". This was how ever was Not Eddies first time as a winner in the competition at KD.
Eddies Hot Rod Camaro runs consistantly in the 6.50's and with an average speed of around 104 M.P.H.....

Somewhere near the top of KD's list of it's baddest and most popular Hot Rods are these two Hot Rods owned and driven by " Jimmy Fuller " .
The " Tat'R Wedge - Mopar " Of Jimmy's is one of the few Hot Rods that I have actually / Personally seen lay rubber across the Finish Line at KD When I first began taking photos at KD I started hearing all sorts of tails being told by drivers. On several occassions I had been told by drivers of 7 & 8 second cars that they had spun their tires the entire eighth mile ( Yeah - L.O.L.) As usaul when told something like that I just nodded and said Hmmm. But one day when Jimmy was doing some test & tuning and a bit of playing I stood at the finish line and watched this Bad A*%S Mopar lay two strips of rubber across the finish line in front of where I stood ! AND - that was next to the Finish Line !
The " Big White 60 Chevy " as many call it is also hard to clean after. Winning Rounds, doing some radical burn outs and carrying the front wheels off of the Starting line makes for another real Crowd Pleaser !
One bad Big Block Mopar and one of the Biggest - Small Block Powered on alcohol - Chevy's around can often be seen setting KD's asphault on fire !
" Jay Fuller " and his Hot Rod named " The Tater Tot " have been making their way down the track in fine style !
The first week end out with this Hot Rod, Jay found his way in to KD's Winner Circle and went home with the jingle of Prize Money in his pocket.
A Second Generation Racer and the Son of " Jimmy Fuller ", Jay is no stranger to Drag Racing and is making his own way in the Sport .
Here's a little something else that we've added last Year. I call it my new Road Wagon .
Just as my white trailer, it is out fitted with all of the same type of photo proccessing equipment and Laminating equipment.
The idea behind the new trailer is that it is much lighter to help with fuel milage and easier to get around with. Having a drop down rear door, will make it easier to get in and out of. It will also has a Gallery of Photos in it to give the public an idea of how they may design thier own Photo's.
It is ready and waiting to appear at your event with the
" On - Site Photo Processing " !
For more information call 740-574-4315
and ask for Mike.

Knisley Racing
This man does not need much of an introduction " Charlie Knisley ". He and his Hot Rods are well known around the Tri-State Areas racing community.
Here's Charlie and Judy's newest play toy, this good looking little blue Turbo-Powered Mustang
Smoken
at KD DRAGWAY !
" John Yeauger " with his Tiger Striped Pontiac - Looking and running good as usuall !
Tomcaten Racing's Hot Rod is always a real crowd pleaser and Spectator favorite !
Larry /Skaggs
" Larry Skaggs " was back in the action at KD DRAGWAY .
Purchassed back in the early part of the 09 Season, since then Larry has made several adjustments here and there with his Hot Rod. Each adjustment has made it just a little bit tougher on the hot rods who have to compete against him.
Over the past several years Larry has been no stranger to KD's Winners Circle .
Jason Briggs
" Jason Briggs " owner of " Briggs Racing" and this sharp looking 1993 Camaro are often seen at KD.
Over the past nine years or so I have seen Jason move up through the E.T's. in to the mid to low 6's. The 358 small block puts Jason down the track in the 6.40's at around 110 M.P.H. .
There's been several occassions that Jason has went home from KD with the jingle of Prize Money in his pocket. In 2008 Jason took home a WALLY TROPHY from the " National Dragster Challenge " at the Blue Grass Raceway in Kentucky.
Dean Stevens
" Dean Stevens " Back at KD and doing what Dean does best !
Doing some radical burn outs for the Spectators and a couple of the fastest runs made at KD DRAGWAY since he broke the Track Record at KD a couple years ago......
With his fastest run of the day at a 143 + miles an hour in the 1/8th mile, Dean was deffenitly the fastest qualifyer of the day !
A FLASH FROM THE PAST
Do You Remeber When ?? Dean made this run ??
Not only FAST in Capitol Letters but good looking as well !
Dean has always been known for not only having some good looking Hot Rods but some of the fastest to have went down KD's Two Lane Hot Rod High Way.
Dean with his half track burnouts have always been a big hit with the Spectators at KD.
" Ron Kerns "
" Ron Kerns " a 43 year veteran in the Sport of Drag Racing can often be seen competing at KD.
Rons 1983 Ford Mustang is another Hot Rod that has been seen quite often coming out on top in his Class at KD.
Ron also has an I.H.R.A. record under his belt as well as a Win in the Northern Nationals in the I.H.R.A. Ron was also a Winner in his Class at KD's 2002 " King Of The Hill Race ".
AND REMEMBER !!! These photo's are processed and in hand and ready to take with you in about 10 to 15 minutes after you've designed your photo ! NO waiting hours or days to get your Photo !!!
ALSO -- you might get to see your Hot Rod posted here on the old web site !
" Landrom Racing " was back at KD and in fine style as usuall.
Landrom Racing is known for having some quick running and good looking Hot Rods !
Once again " Jason Seagraves " went home with the jingle of Prize Money in his pocket !
Finishing " First Place in - Bracket 1" was just the iceing on the cake for Jason. Jason is not only a tough competitor out on the track but a good Sportsman as well. Win, Loose, or Draw, Jason will tell you he always has a good time and enjoys himself while at the track ......
" Joey Alley " There's always some excitement when Joey shows up with his Hot Rod and Uncle DUKE !
Joey, who started racing at a young age with the guidence and help of his uncle Duke Alley, and after a lot of hard work and dedication on his own part, has progressed in to a formidall Competitor in the Sport of Drag Racing as well as having one of the best looking and quickest Hot Rod Ford Mustangs around this area.

" KING OF THE HILL RACE - 09"
Has come and run - Finally !
October 25th. was a good Race Day ! Several of KD's biggest names were in the competition line up. Myers Racing, KNISLEY, ALLEY , BETTS, McFADDEN , the MOORE FAMILY - MIKE & RODNEY and many others were adding to the excitement as well as some old friends such as Clark Racing , whom we hadn't seen in a while !
To get things started off with our coverage of KD DRAGWAYS 2009 " KING OF THE HILL RACE " we have
" Bill Boster's "
Classy looking and quick running little Rambler.
" Charlie Knisley " owner of " Knisley Racing " and his 1956 Ford were at KD for the King of The Hill Competition !
Something that helps this little 1956 Ford get down the track is it's 445 cubic inch small block Ford motor producing in the neighborhood of around 600 horse power. Using a 1100 Dominator to supply it's diet of 110 octain fuel , it's needless to say he doesn't get the best of fuel mileage.
It was " Hannah Racings " first time out with their newly built Hot Rod.
This little " Chevy Chevet " was a real eye catcher !
King of the Hill Trophies
King of The Hill Winners
Taken at the top of KD DRAGWAY'S HILL , after a day of grueling competition , this motley looking Crew (consisting of most of the days Winners) still had the energy to go to the top TOP OF THE HILL and celebrate !
Staging Lane 09 At KD
The Staging Lanes at KD can be full of antisipation just before a Race !
" Clark Racing " was back at KD and in fine style I might add. This little pick up truck recieved a lot of attention from the Spectators and deservingly so.
Scott Thayer
" Scott Thayer's " Mustang is a real eye catcher.
Not only looking good but running good as well !
David Betts
KD DRAGWAY is a family orriented place of bussiness and this is a good example.
Dureing a short break in the action dureing Time Trials " David Betts " a long time friend and Competitor at KD and his son " Adam " took a trip down the track together. A step in the right direction with a young child is always worth taking. David is giving his young son a little taste of the fun and excitement that can come in the future with a little hard work and dedication.
I'm sure this trip down the track will be in David and Adams memory for a long time .
Guy's look out - it won't be long untill Adam is headed down the track on his own looking for a win !
Street Leagal and ready to go ! This is an example of some of the Street Class Hot Rods that compete at KD....
" Humble Racing's " AMC gets ready to head down the track at KD DRAGWAY !
" Donnie Smith " owner of " Donnie Smith Racing " a long time friend of KD DRAGWAY and of mine can often be seen competeing at KD DRAGWAY.
After knowing Donnie for several years, even back to the days of me owning a Towing Service and Donnie owning an Exhaust and auto repair business , you never know what this man is going to bring to the track.
He's showed up at KD with everything from sleek looking Rail Dragsters to one of the best looking 1930 something Ford Coupe that ever went down KD's track to the good looking - WHEEL STANDING Door Slammer seen in this Photo.
" Mike Vanderpool " one half of the " Vanderpool " Families Racing Team can really stir things up when at KD DRAGWAY.
Mike always gets the crowds attention when coming off the line with as you can see, some fantastic wheel stands !
Mike just as his Dad - Ted Vanderpool, has made some quick trips down KD and up the Hill !
" Chuck Ousley " has been making some quick runs down KD's Track and getting a little air in the proccess.......
Any time a little Duce that looks as good as this one does it's deffenitly going to be a real crowd pleaser !
" J.D.Knisley " was back at KD with this great looking little Dart !
" Corey Nickles " has also made his way down the track in the 09 Season ! This little Stick Car brings back a lot of memories... The GTO back in the Day,also known as a " Goat " was was one of the most popular cars on the road...Corey's Hot Rod is always well received by the Spectators and racing fans when it arrives at KD !
Here's a look at an old friend of mine " DANNY STILNER " getting ready to head down the the track in his newest Hot Rod. Runining consistantly well in to the 6's, this Camaro runs as good as it looks!
The Dawson Gang
" Randy Dawson " and his new Hot Rod caught the crowds attention with some wild wheel standing ! Randy told me he still had a few buggs to work out with the new Hot Rod yet. Even with a few buggs it was a hooken and a haulen !
Sat. 8 -22-09 Randy and his new Hot Rod went home the winner of 1st Place in Bracket II...
Myers Racing
" Myers Racing " This 1970 Cuda, owned and driven by Bud Myers is one of the Ones to beat at KD .
Bud, who comes down from Oak Hill Ohio has been in the Winners Circle so to speak, many times at KD.
Powered with a 474 cubic inch engine that consistantly puts Buds Hot Rod down the track with an average E.T. of around 5.80 in the 1/8 th. mile that rounds out to be about 120 mile an hour makes this car and driver a tough combination to beat..
W & W Racing
"W&W Racing" with Ralf Wornok at the wheel makes it tough on the Bracket 1 Competitors at KD !
First /time Out
For one, it was their first time out to KD and also the first time to compete at a Drag Strip ! Well , they had a good looking Hot Rod, it went quick and straight and seemed like they enjoyed getting in to the Racing thing , SO, I'd say they went home a winner !
WSAZ at KD
In June of 09 WSAZ News Channel 3 showed up at KD's Friday Night " Run What You Brung " Event. Friday Nights are for Test & Tune and to run what ever type of vehicle AND STREET VEHICLE's that you want to race....
Darrell Leadingham - owner of KD DRAGWAY has tried to give the young people as well as a few Old Timers a place and time to safely race their Street Rods with out fear of causing an accident or getting busted by the Law..
The purpose of WSAZ's visit was to interview some of the local Racers and discuss some up coming issues pertaining to some new laws trying to be passed in Ohio. The main topic of the new Laws was " STREET RACING " and proposed Penalties for this as well as related issues.
O.S.P. at KD
A representative of Ohio's State Patrole Post 73 also showed up for this event at Southern Ohio's KD DRAGWAY.
The Troopers mission was to try and give an interpritation of the new laws in the works about " Street Racing in Ohio " dureing an interview with the WSAZ Reporter.
Roger Leadingham at KD
" Roger Leadingham and his 1957 Chevy " became the focus of an interview by the Reporter from WSAZ.
A Streer Rod at KD
As you may have guessed, this is no normal 1957 Chevy Belair !
Owned and driven by "Roger Leadingham ", this Hot Rod is powered by a 460 Big Block Chevy Motor, putting out 750 Horsepower + having a 375 shot of Nitrous to suck down if needed. This big motor also runs on 100 Octane pump gas AND being completely Street Leagal.
Street Rod - YES IT IS ! AND - It also runs in the 7.90's on the motor in the 1/8th mile and around 90 MPH with the Nitrous..
Being a 50 year Veteran of Drag Racing, Roger knows the in's and out's as well as the up's and down's of Drag Racing ( on and off the Strip - as rumor has it ).
" Rodney Moore and Little Rodney " can be seen most any time competing at KD DRAGWAY. Also this Hot Rod has been seen in the Winners Circle on several occassins at KD !
>>>>>>>> I'd be glad to hear from You !
